annoyed

I am so sick and tired of reading news stories and hearing fellow mommas telling of how some people are disgusted or annoyed by breastfeeding. This is so insane to me. I am beginning to think that we need to have another baby just so that I can go out in public and feed my child .. each time just waiting for someone to make a comment .. I would have so much fun with that.

I think that women need business cards that they can carry around with them and hand out whenever someone makes an ignorant comment ..

Maybe something like this ...

"Thank you for your unnatural interest in my breasts and my babies ...

a few things for you to ponder before we engage in a discussion on this delicate subject ....

A) Breastmilk is the best source of nutrition for babies.

B) Breastmilk contains at least 100 ingredients not found in formula

C) I love that my baby and I continue to strengthen our bond through breastfeeding

D) These are MY breasts .. this is MY baby. You play NO part in this equation.

E) It is downright tacky to make unsolicited comments about my choice to do what I think is best for me and my baby. (Might I suggest an Emily Post book on etiquette?)

F) There is nothing "sexual" about breastfeeding .. do you complain to mall security when you pass by Victoria's Secret or Abercrombie? No? Didn't think so ... so why the hell does it make you uncomfortable that I am nourishing and comforting my child? Seriously, think about it ...

G) There are things in life that make me queezy too .. eggs for example .. am I going to ask the manager at a restaurant to make you eat your breakfast in the bathroom (or anywhere else outside of my field of vision for that matter) b/c of this fact? No .. that would just be silly, now wouldn't it??

H) Again .. and I cannot stress this enough .. it's just NONE of your business!

If you still want to start a discussion on the subject, be my guest ... I fully understand that there are people in the world that are too feeble minded to take into account any of the above. During the course of the discussion I promise to speak slowly and use small words to accomodate you.

My baby and I thank you for your interest."
